- Please read what I said again, George, the last sentence. You've heard
- the rumor mill; the 1300/1200+/whatever is just going to be a 1200 with
- SIMM slots. I hope this isn't the case. BUT IF IT IS, it's going to
- be the 600 all over again.
-
- GN> look who we are talking about..
-
- And considering that I've been one of the most consistent critics of
- AT's activities on this message base, this is supposed to comfort me?
-
- GN> these guys at AT have some brains in their head and have some sense for
- GN> marketing a particle machine/technology that they own!
-
- Someone please inform me when AT has ANY sense of marketing. I'd like
- to know.
-
- Could someone take over for me with George? I don't have the space for
- another AT apologist on my schedule due to heavy dealings with Gary
- Peake at the present time.

-
- Would you be able to send us a postcard from Neptune while you're
- there?
-
- First of all, I wouldn't call an EC030 a "new" processor. Sure, it's
- new to a stock 1200, but it isn't really "new" per se. Perhaps the
- words "more powerful processor" would have been more appropriate.
-
- Second, we all agree that the SIMM slots will be there. x32 or
- x36, I wonder? Hopefully, x32. They are cheaper.
-
- Third, AT has said many times that they've had a hard time getting HD
- drives, so I doubt they'll be in there. Too bad; I've always found
- that an HD drive was a real benefit not only in increased storage but
- in exchanging data with PCs (CrossDOS is really an underestimated
- portion of the OS in this respect).
-
- GN> In this short amount of time, they should at least have ONE new chip
- built!
-
- Don't you think they would have announced something like that by now?
-
- GN> If any of these improvements are in there, it will be worth it and worth
- GN> upgrading to.
-
- No argument with you on that, but somehow I don't see it happening.
- I would be tempted to buy a system like what you described despite the
- fact that I don't like the 1200 the way it is, but, as Dr. Kittel has
- said during the pizza box "lecture", AT doesn't want to increase the
- cost of manufacture. Besides, why develop and reengineer a system when
- it's going to be obsolete even within the Amiga line within a year of
- its release?
